2012… and the Mayan legacy
Never before has the closeness to the end of era caused so much expectation and social movement on this planet, as it is currently happening with the anticipated arrival of the year 2012.
Much comment has been said and there is much speculation of what will happen on Saturday, December 22, 2012 a date marked by the Mayan calendar as the end of time ! There are many unknowns in this respect, but what we can be sure of, is that what is going to happen is beginning to happen right now.
To be able to decode the mysteries of this fascinating ancient civilization we should make a thorough analysis of what is available in the legacy they have left for us.
We can also make a trip through time to review the written history of those who are nowadays regarded as the centre of global attention.
Prehistory
![]() |
65 Million Years ago, our solar system received an unexpected visitor. At that time there was no human alive who could have predicted such catastrophic event. The meteorite that would hit , what is today the small fishing village called Chicxulub, in the Yucatan peninsula, would end the existing life as existed at that time.
Paradoxically, at the epicentre of this impact, a mysterious civilization emerged from the darkness, only to disappear years later in a similar way. However they left for us their magnificent cities, along with a prophecy that warns us of a future similar event. The Mayans, as guardians of the time, also saw us, as the generation which should face this challenge and defeat it, or perish as the human race. Today, we all are looking in the wrong place, since the threat is amongst us in ourselves and our own lack of consciousness. |
The Mayans
| The first thing we must understand is that the word Mayas does not mean the name of a race or skin color. Maya is a very advanced level of consciousness which means “No-Pain”, MA-Yah. We all can be Mayas. The different Mayan groups, with different names, created a civilization based on the level of awareness of No-Pain, which is based on three basic premises that we will mention again and which are the keys to come out as victorious in the coming events. Beforehand however, let us do a little history to analyze how the myths of barbarism and savagery attributed to the ancient Mayans were created. | ![]() |
Spain in 1492
This year, coincidentally, the last ship left Spain destined for Africa, with the last Moors aboard, ending eight centuries of conquest.
That same time Columbus was to sea with his expedition searching for the New World. It is of interest that his expedition members were the dregs of Spain, the worst of the worst. The vast majority of them were taken from prisons to man the three weak vessels.
The Conquerors and their beliefs
These particular days were witness to the triumph of Christians over Muslims, as well as the conversion, murder or expulsion of the Jews from Spanish land.
In an era of ignorance, where virtually only Europe believed that the Earth was flat, the meeting with the new continent, its natural resources, lives and material goods turned out to be interpreted as a gift from God to the Spaniards, for their religious triumphs over non-Christians.
Coupled with these beliefs and events, and being an expedition financed by the Catholic Church of that time, the results of an imminent encounter with the “barbaric Mayas”, meant the Explorers already had a marked target. The ignorance, greed and fanaticism were the primary components of this encounter between two very distant worlds in space, time and consciousness.
The arrival of the Spaniards and real constructors of the Maya Empire
When the Spaniards arrived in Yucatán, the Maya real manufacturers had already gone. Five hundred years before the arrival of the conquerors, cities, universities and ceremonial centers, had already been abandoned under mysterious circumstances. The great priest- scientists that once came from where the sun rose, in their floating cities with wings like butterfly, were no more. Several million people – it is believed up to 7 million – had already disappeared without leaving any trace, giving rise to one of the largest ever anthropological mysteries.
The Theological problem Maya-Spanish
As the Columbus expedition was a project funded by the Crown, the religion to be established would be Catholic. European obscurantism and the Inquisitions were the religious guidelines to be followed by the conquerors.
Lack of interest of the conquerors
A clear understanding of everything that related to its ancient culture and civilizationwas of no interest. Both the military and most of the monks who listened to the Mayans and understand their God idea vision were systematically maligned, giving rise to all kinds of stories, lies and a product of thousands of years of spiritual evolution worldview misinterpretation.
The story written by the victors
As often happens, the story was written by the victors. The politic-military-religious-economic machinery that funded the conquest, issued what is still regarded today the official version of the Maya civilization. In short, we can say that ignorance, fear and fanaticism did have a presence at the time that the Diego de Landa Monk would make his notorious “Act of faith” in Maní. This ended much of the valuable Mayan legacy to humanity being destroyed through the burning of codices. I presume, personally, that much of these documents were also brought to Rome.
The most common lies, which were the result of misinterpretation of the hermetic and initiatory symbolisms of the Mayans are :
· The Mayans drowned their maids in the cenotes – a precious source of vital fluid – to make their gods happy.
· The veins of the Yucatan cenotes are full of hidden gold and silver.
· Winners of the ball game were beheaded as it was regarded as a high honour to the winning team.
· The rungs of the pyramid of Chichen Itza are small because the Mayans were of short stature.
· The Mayans ate the hearts of their captives.
· The Mayans were polytheists.
The list is almost endless…

The three Mayan premises
To live on a level of consciousness Ma-Yah, it is necessary to faithfully follow the three premises:
Inlakech-Alakem
This is the universal greeting of the Mayans. It means: I am you, and you are another me. With the sense of view in others the presence of divinity and living in the uniqueness of the cosmos, all as a single entity.
Balance Man-Woman
For the Mayans, the universe and life were divided in the macro-cosmos and the micro-cosmos. Scientists and priests tasks were divided equally between the two of them. The man was responsible for the study of celestial bodies and universal designs. The women were in charge of the sacred art of healing or medicine. It is worth mentioning that the woman was the main obstacle the conquerors had to remove for attaining the objective of the looting of natural resources, as she was the natural guardian of the large garden of Mother Nature. Millions in the greatest Holocaust recorded so far, were killed in the bonfires, accused of witchcraft often having been surprised whilst preparing a medicine to treat a sick child.
Harmony with Mother Nature
Today, we can see that the outcome of the Millennium maltreatment towards women resulted in a separation or distancing of the female factor, by creating an unbalance between the cosmic forces expressed in Mother Nature. The female factor was highly venerated by the Mesoamerican civilizations of antiquity. The Aztecs called it “Tonantzin” or “Spirit of Mother Earth”. The Wonderful worship Guadalupano, which is the worship of the divine feminine, is a clear sign of its strength and processing capacity.
Science and Spirituality
This is the key to understanding the mysteries and the true legacy that the Mayans have left us recorded in stone. It is the work to decode this message that will make us cross over happily and not painfully the threshold of the year 2012. Science, represented by the serpent, should be in perfect harmony with spirituality, represented by the wings. The Mexican national shield is a beautiful reference to the Caduce of Hermes, and somehow, a prophecy that announces the advent of a new human race, and the rebirth of a great nation that will be raised together with their symbols , their ancestral traditions and their universal world vision.
Finally may I recommend if you want to research the Mayan mysteries, you read the sacred book called Popol Vuh . This book is equivalent to the Book of Genesis in the Old Testament. It’s a book highly coded, but that gives many results if it is read in an unbiased and open-minded way.
